Ilia's Super Serum Skin Tint is the key to your-skin-but better

Since Sephora touched down in the UK, beauty nerds everywhere have been scrambling trying to get their hands on all the brands that the retailer has been selfishly gatekeeping. Ilia Beauty being one of them meant that it was one of the first beauty brands people rushed to try. It's only natural, we've been hearing so many amazing reviews from across the pond that we're gagging to try it out for ourselves.
For this week's 5 People Test, we wanted to check out the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint as the beauty corner of TikTok has been obsessing over it since its original launch. This epic makeup-skincare hybrid is no regular serum, according to users on the app. It's packed with big skincare heroes like niacinamide which helps tackle pigmentation, squalane which works hard to restore that suppleness and plumpness to the skin and of course the most universal skincare ingredient of all, hyaluronic acid which over extended use reduces the appearance of fine lines.
As for the coverage, it's light, but the serum promises to give you an healthy, even and natural looking skin finish, as well as having broad spectrum SPF 30 for sun protection. It's a 1000-in-one, a true no makeup-makeup skincare hybrid hero.
Five GLAMOUR staffers have put the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint to the test and here are their truest and most honest thoughts.

I'm never one to reach for a tinted serum. If anything I'm more likely to go bare faced. However, I was excited to give this Ilia Skin Tint a fair go as all the girlies across the pond couldn't stop banging on about it on TikTok. The consistency is soft but not sticky, which I feared due to its serum and skincare properties. All I needed was five drops which I spread evenly across the corners of my face and I blended it in with my hands like a moisturiser.
It felt feather-light but hydrating and it's packed with all the essential skincare goodness I've been relishing over. Being that pigmentation is my main skincare concern, I always look for something that will reduce its appearance, so the niacinamide comes in handy. Although it didn't really cover my dark spots, it most certainly gave me a very natural and even glow. So much so that you can't even tell if I have any makeup on while wearing it. The fact that it had SPF 40 was a bonus, because any good beauty nerd knows, protection and prevention always comes first. Something tells me I'll be reaching out to this serum again very soon.

When it comes to complexion makeup products, I'm all for lightweight, natural and luminous formulas. If it's skincare-infused and there's a decent amount of coverage — sign me up! And that's exactly what the ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint delivers. I've been hearing a lot of hype around this product, coming from everyone from professional makeup artists, celebrities and beauty influencers, so naturally, when I finally got my hands on it, I was beyond excited to try it out.
I loved the liquid-y, lightweight consistency that genuinely resembles a skin serum, making it super easy to blend and apply with your bare hands. And as a skincare fanatic, I appreciated the included niacinamide, squalane and hyaluronic acid — all of which hydrated and nourished my skin throughout the day. It gave me just enough coverage, evened out my skin tone and gave my complexion that beautiful lit-from-within glow. Plus, I loved how it worked with my other go-to cream and liquid makeup products such as blush, contour and bronzer: no patchiness whatsoever! In the areas that I felt were a bit too shiny for my liking, I simply set it with my trusty powder and I was good to go. Definitely deserves all the hype it gets.

I'd heard great things about Ilia's skin tint so I wanted to give it a go for myself. I'm partial to glowier coverage so this seemed right up my street. I colour-matched myself to the Paloma shade, but then I fake tanned so I was worried it wouldn't work. But even though there's 30 shades to choose from, each is very flexible and can stretch across a few different tones, so this still worked beautifully. It gives the sort of minimal, lightweight coverage you'd like if you're a fan of the 'clean girl aesthetic'.
It's very much that barely-there vibe, but it still manages to even out skin, neutralise redness, and give skin a healthy dose of glow. Then you can always call on your concealer anywhere you want extra coverage. It feels dewy on skin like a serum, and it's not bulletproof like long-wearing matte foundations, but for something easy-breezy on off-duty days, this is very pretty.

This product is perfect for makeup minimalists like me who prefer lighter coverage and a more dewy finish. As someone with a darker skin tone, finding the perfect foundation shade to match my skin can be challenging. It’s either too dark, too light or doesn’t look right so I was surprised to see that the serum blended into my skin perfectly. The best thing about this product is that you don’t need to apply too much to see results.
After using the serum once on my under-eye area, the dark circles were covered almost instantly and it left a dewy glow that didn't make my face look too oily. I've never used a tinted serum before but after using it for the first time, I would highly recommend everyone add this product into their makeup routine, it's perfect for those no makeup, makeup days.

Trying the Ilia Tinted Serum was quite the experience! I honestly had mixed emotions in the first ten minutes. The product applied with a watery/slippery texture which I was so sure would make me look like a big ball of grease — I was so hesitant to keep going and trust the process. As an oily skin girl I dread anything that's going to overdo the shiny look for me so ya girl was so stressed.
It had an unusual aroma even though it's supposed to be fragrance-free and again all signs were pointing no! Howeverrrr, after about ten minutes of the product sitting on my face I had this gentle glow and moisture that felt light enough to be a moisturiser but also had enough coverage to even out my skin — I. fell. in. love. It has the perfect balance of foundation and skin care that I think would be great for those 'no makeup — makeup' days or vacations where I don't want a heavy foundation but you want some coverage, glow (AND SUN PROTECTION!). Love the finished look, hate the application process — it's also such light coverage that I had a tough time covering minor blemishes so that's something to consider too.
