The Nail Art Trend Using Your Boyfriend's Initial Loved By Kim Kardashian & Jennifer Lopez

Forget adding your other half to your phone wallpaper, nail art is the new way to declare your love for someone – and it's all thanks to celebs.

Yep, you read that right, nail art is a new way to show off your love — “boyfriend initial nail art” to be exact.

It all started with Kim Kardashian (or did it?!) and her neon pink manicure. At first it seemed like another summery set, until you take a look closer and notice that she’s added an accent nail with a crystal-embellished “P”, a nod to boyfriend Pete Davidson.

Although Kim’s certainly inspired many of us, she may have actually been inspired herself. Just a few weeks earlier, sister Kourtney apparently tried the trend. She was seen wearing a “T”and “B” on a red set of nails in honour of husband Travis Barker for Valentine’s Day.

The latest celebrity to try the trend is another couple we’re lowkey obsessed with: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. Created by her long-time manicurist, Tom Bachik, who took the trend and ran with it — JLo style. Bachik began with a neutral-coloured base on her classic almond shaped nails and added an embossed “J / B” with gold foil on one accent nail (her ring finger!) He captioned the post, “If you know… then you know 🏹 Jen and Ben forever #couplesgoals for the boss @jlo #nailsbytombachik 💅🏼🔥”.

Unsurprisingly, this celebrity obsession of declaring their love through nail art is catching on fast. Beauty retailer, Justmylook, reports that the search interest for “nails with boyfriends initial” has increased by a mega 3800% following J-Lo’s manicure just two weeks ago.

The best part is, it’s a super easy trend to try at home and there are so many ways to interpret it. You can take a cue from Kim and add their initials in crystals, or you can carefully paint them on each finger, or even go a little extra and use gold foil to emboss your love for your other half. If you cannot be bothered with the faff of nail art, you can always buy some decals or nail stickers to simply stick on, seal in with a top coat and go.
