The 5 most ridiculous moments from the Katie Hopkins/This Morning Interview On Children's Names and

Scrolling through my twitter feed pretty late last night, I wondered why former Apprentice contestant Katie Hopkins was trending. It was because of the below appearance on This Morning - where she sat on the sofa to proclaim that she judges children by their names - and if her kid is caught playing with someone with a "working class" moniker (her most hated were Charmaine and Tyler), she won't let them continue to be friends.
Obviously the whole associating names with class thing has clearly created a huge storm online - and I can't help but feel like it's yet another piece of controversy being created for controversy's sake - Katie already wrote the same thing in the Daily Mail (home to Samantha Brick and Liz Jones) back in February.
But my gut reaction was:
a) I feel sorry for her kids b) This woman was on The Apprentice, a show known for picking attention-grabbing loonies to make an entertaining show. So her opinions should be taken with a pinch of salt. c) You shouldn't be sending your kids to a mixed state school if you're so troubled by class and your kids mixing with "the wrong type" - which is totally ridiculous in itself. d) I went to a state school, and then to a posh uni, and can confirm that posh and non-posh people give equally ridiculous names out to their children. But it's not the child's fault - it's the parents, and baby name books. And it does not reflect on their character. e) The huge response online shows just how obsessed the Brits still are with class.
Whatever you think of Katie (and I'd love to know your thoughts), the clip certainly started a lot of conversations in the GLAMOUR office - most were appalled, and our resident American's response was "Isn't Tyler a posh name?" - showing just how one person's 'Charmaine" could be another's 'Persephone'.
The video does make cringe watching - so I have summarised the 5 most ridiculous/hilarious moments in case you can't make it through the whole ten minute clip:
1. When she starts calling Holly Willoughby "Holls" and Holly looks disturbed. 2. When she says you can tell from a child's name whether a kid has "done their homework" and that "Those kind of children has a disruptive influence in schools". Any teachers out there that can confirm/deny? 3. When she says: "Yes my opinions are restricting my children - but we don't have a lot of time…we need to make quick decisions in life" 4. "I don't really get involved in surnames…but I do judge children by their names" 5. "I hate geographical names for children." "Your child's called India." "Err, yes but it's not related to a location."
